Community: LivWell Strikes Back Against Hunger

This month, Livwell Emporium is proud to be able to make a small contribution and donate comfort food that will also provide a wholesome alternative to those in need. While covid has certainly rocked our boat, we know that many are less fortunate than us, and it is in these times we must try and help each other as much as we can.

Did you know that:

  • 5 million Australians have experienced food insecurity in the last 12 months?

  • 1 in 4 women in Australia have experienced food insecurity in the last 12 months?

  • At least once a week, 3 in 10 food insecure Australians go a whole day without eating?

  • There has been a 22% increase in the number of people seeking food relief from charities in the last 12 months?

Most of us don't realise that food insecurity is an issue within our nation, but once you hear the facts; they are hard to ignore. In fact, it's one that our Australian owned company, Livwell Emporium believes needs our urgent attention.

Livwell has endeavoured to support vulnerable families by providing a retail value of over $10,000 of wholegrain snacks during September 2020. The donation has been achieved with the cooperation of Foodbank, who will facilitate the distribution of the products to people in need.

The company’s products offer health benefits that are a great addition to assist dietary requirements and a good option for when it comes to snacking. As put by Darren Craig from Livwell Emporium, “We have selected these snacks and they will provide good nutritional benefits at a time in great need.”

The donation consists of single serve 30g packs of Popcorn which have the added benefit of containing 500 million CFU of Active Probiotics in each pack PLUS added calcium, magnesium and potassium. Included in the donation are family packs of 'Mini Pops' which are air popped and made from Australian wholegrain, sorghum. Sorghum is a nutrient-packed grain that is rich in vitamins and minerals like B vitamins, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, iron, and zinc.

Below: Livwell on Channel 7 news this evening being packed by Foodbank to feed families in need. We are proud of our company being able to make a contribution and work with foodbank.

About Foodbank:

  • Foodbank are the pantry to the charity sector.

  • They aim to fight hunger by providing food for 815,000 Australians each month and advocate for the almost 1 in 5 Australians who experience food insecurity each year.

  • Foodbank is a not-for-profit, non-denominational organisation operating in every state and territory in Australia.

  • Last year, Foodbank sourced the equivalent of 75 million meals for our 2,400 charity partners. Without this food, millions of vulnerable Aussies would go hungry.

For us at Livwell, this is just the start of what we are trying to do within our community and we hope with your support, that we can come together and achieve so much more.
